6/9/16 Slides in, jacks up! Ready to travel to Newmar factory in Nappanee, IN for routine service--in preparation for summer travels.
6/10/16 On WGN Radio, Chicago with Lou Manfredini. Mentioned this site and several thousand of you checked it out. Thank you!
I'll try to make it easier to follow our travels by the home page click and by starting to save your email addresses (if you so choose).
6/16/16 Back from the Newmar factory for service, including a couple of issues the techs spotted--that I didn't. Another very good experience at Newmar!
7/1/16 On the road at 6:45 a.m. from Berrien Springs, MI to Battle Creek for the Air Show and Hot Air Balloon Festival. There are grounds set aside for RVs without the usual convenience--power, water and sewer. However, the field filled rapidly during the day. We were treated to practice for the air shows tomorrow, Sunday and Monday. All quite spectacular, but being close--as in ear-splitting close--to the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds was a real thrill. Lyle attached several photos from the practice event.
We walked the Festival grounds and picked up some barbequed ribs for dinner Just okay. Tomorrow we'll try another vendor. Weather is pleasantly cool, sunny and breezy.
7/2/16 Pleasantly cool overnight, so turning off the generator and air conditioning was no problem. Friends Trudy and Tom arrived from St. Joseph, MI to spend the day. The air show was spectacular. Thunderbirds managed the most ooos and ahhs--including the starburst to the right. Several dozen
hot air balloons took off at sunset, but
not all at once, so we were able to get individual photos of these graceful,
beautiful "creatures".
7/3/16 The weather at the Battle Creek Air Show and Hot Air Balloon Festival remains ideal, although high cloudiness took away some of the ahh factor of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds on Sunday without the deep blue skies for con trail contrast. All of the aerobatic displays were phenomenal and people here were treated to a much more up-close-and-personal view than they would get in some other air shows. A great thrill for us!
Now we're provisioning for our "big" trip--up around the Canadian shores of Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods, across the prairie provinces of Canada to Calgary, Banff and Jasper. Then south through Glacier Ntl Park, Yellowstone and Tetons. Finally, into Colorado's Rocky Mountain Ntl Park and Estes Park before heading across the flatlands toward home. Lots of miles and the scenery should be spectacular!
